HID Conversion Now Possible

My friend Ilya in the V8 section designed HID's for our cars, with the custom housings, the ballists and bulbs. We just finished the install tonight. They fit perfectly, and all I can say is WOW. These things are super bright and luxurious looking. It is really foggy out, so it was a great test, I can see the beams cutting through the fog like a razor, it looked so cool. Now I can pay back those people who have blinded me with their HID's. I just wanted to let you all know about this new mod. --

I'll never understand the draw. You can get "close" to HID brightness at a fraction of the cost. I think most people just buy them for the name. -- Owner of HBHRacing.com Xtreme performance products

These are true HID's. Its not some cheap kit. They come complete with the bulbs and ballasts and housings. This is not just bulbs, its a complete kit. The housing is the exact same size as our stock ones, except these are glass and metal. The only modification we had to do was cut the stock bulb connector(2 wires), and wire in the new connector and route the power source to the ballast. I had silverstars in my car, and these are about 20 times brighter. The kit we put in my car uses the 6000k HID Bulbs. Take a look in the anything goes forum for the post on the HID Kit. Here is a pic of the kit http://www.f-sane.com/fgallery/thumbnails.php?album=68 Ill take some pics tonight or tomorow and show you how it looks. --

It is for each his own to choose what its worth to spend on certain mods. Im not trying to promote it, just making it aware that it is now possible for those who have been wanting to convert over. --

I'll probably pick a kit up in the spring, I can't stand how dull my halogen's look. And if I were going to convert to Silverstar's, I'd have to do the actual housing conversion, anyway, so I might as well just spend a little extra and have something I'd really be happy with. I did the Silverstar conversion on my fog lamps, and yes, there was a difference, but it just isn't enough for me. -- 1998 Firebird V6 3800 II W68 and Y87 packages - Visit My Bird on CarDomain... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2173465

LOL Steve, you silly... Eric, there is no Silverstar replacement for our headlights... Our birds have a sealed beam bulb, and they don't make a Silverstar for it yet. What you can do, however, is pay about $100 for a conversion kit that includes Silverstar type bulbs.
http://eurolamps.com/eurolamps/sealbeams.htm
You can get the 880's for your fog lights, though. I put them on my car, and noticed a bit of a difference. Nothing amazing, but worth the $30 to me.

They give you the lamp that's used in there, but Sylvania doesn't make a Silverstar for our lamps (hence why there's no link there to buy those particular lamps). --

Yup, it sort of threw me off at first back when I was looking at Silverstars, as well. The numbers listed on that link are just for the normal sealed beam bulbs that Sylvania makes. So what it comes down to is $100 for a Silverstar conversion, or $300 for the HID conversion. -- 1998 Firebird V6 3800 II W68 and Y87 packages - Visit My Bird on CarDomain... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2173465

Man that sucks...Not worth it at all. I guess the extra light from the silverstar fog lights will help somewhat. Philips standard headlights always appeared to be brighter than Sylvania's though.
BTW I've painted the black border/cutout around the headlamps silver, and it looks great. It sure matches better than the black that used to surround the headlamps...gives the car a nice look, I'll post pics soon...after I get the Silverstar fog lamps though.
Oh yeah, GoldenBird those HIDs look awesome on your ride!
