Low oil pressure on gauge

Posted By: redmaro95 On: 07-24-2014 @ 09:57:14         Reply | Edit
1995-3.4L

Yesterday I noticed the oil gauge was not reading normal. Since I had the car, cold would read 40 all the time, after it warmed up it would be 20 at idle and 40 under acceleration.

Now as of last night it still reads 40 cold, but after it warms up it reads 35-40 around 50mph and above, 20 at around 30mph and close to red at idle.

It does not make any different noises than before also the oil is full on the dipstick when warm. No oil leaks That I can see.

So you guys think it is the sensor or the gauge bad?

Or is the oil pressure really that low?

Maybe but I was planing I getting rid of it in the spring, I don't think it is worth it for me to have it rebuilt. Besides I have a 3.4L, at least you have a 3.8L, has alittle more power. I only really bought it because my truck was brike down and I needed something, This camaro was cheap from a guy at work so I bought it....then I started getting into f-bodys and learning more. Now I want an LS1.

I could try that, It just seems weird cuz you would think if it was the sensor then it would read either be zero or 80 all the time and not move like it was fine.

I am gonna change the oil early next week and will check out the sensor, I gotta replace the "low oil sensor" also, while the oil is drained. That sensor, the one in the pan has been bad since I bought the car.
