my 2nd fbody

I finally sold the Camaro and bought the Firebird I've been wanting for weeks. The car has really high mileage so once I get back to work, i think I may get a 3.8 for the car, instead of going all out and getting an v8 or getting another 3.4, i guess I'd have few upgrades to make with the 3.8.

Anyway, the car was sitting for 2 years and there are a few things I need to replace or repair. The 2 thing that concern me are , the car has to be moving for a while in order to really get any pep.

Could that be because of old and maybe watery gas?

The 2nd being today, the car overheated, all the way into the red. I looked under the hood, the reservoir cap had coolant coming out of it. So I walked over to pep boys and let the car cool, bought a thermostat and came back. I opened the cap on the res. and it looked brown and muddy. So tomorrow I'm gonna do a coolant flush.

But what would cause this? Is it an age thing, due to the car being parked for so long?

I've already gotta replace the front brakes and I am putting in a new thermo (needed or not). Since the car was sitting so long, is there anything else I may wanna check?

There is a lot u can check. Auto or manual? As for the coolent problem it could be a bad head gasket or water pump or a number of other things, but that would be a good place to start

Well, Dexcool usually gets muddy and red-brownish color after a couple of years of not being changed. Also, change the oil, and look to see if it is milky at all.

Also, Seafoam the hell out of it. After all that, have it scanned for any stored codes. Then get back to us.
