i havent seen a 170*. only the stock 195*, the 180*, and the 160*.

oh wait. about that. can i just install the thermostat or am i gonna have to get fan on/off switches. ive never really understood that cuz im kinda new to this gig.

you can either get an on off switch, live in alaska (somewhere where its always cold), or get it reprogrammed to have the fans automatically turn on or off at a certain temp. Of course you should keep in mind that the prices vary by choice.

if you don't your thermo will open at say 160, but unless you have the fan running it won't cool off until the stock setting will kick in. therefore making it pointless

hypertech, get a fan switch (i think its harder on your fans), have a company reprogram your pcm. i don't think hptuners will work for the 3.4. just look around for "chips". it should say what it does in the description
