The intakes on our cars are made of aluminum I believe. Do not get a polymer intake! My 99 olds had a 3.8 with the polymer intake from the factory and it split from the heat and hydrolocked my motor. It's a common problem with series II 3.8's with the polymer intakes. Thats why GM came out with the series III 3.8 with an aluminum one. luckly all fbodies came with aluminum intakes. -- 1998 3.8L V6 sport gold metallic, Flowmaster 80 series, whisper lid+FRA, k&n filter.

It didn't split from heat, it had a hole burnt into the thin area near the coolant port from the EGR port. It's common.

Composite intakes are a better overall design. There is no choice though. You have to run what you have. -- Owner of HBHRacing.com Xtreme performance products

my fault for not realizing it. i knew it was too good to be true. well i messaged the guy...he specifically said on the page that this product is "guaranteed to fit" and under the "applications" section specfically wrote camaro/firebird.
hopefully this won't be too bad of a problem -- i rock.

not gonna fit anything other then a FWD 3.8. There is no fbody intake other then stock that will work without a LOT of changes, and even so it's no gain to be had. -- Owner of HBHRacing.com Xtreme performance products

I do remember the guy at the shop saying something about the EGR, good call HBH. either way, those intakes are horrible. I had to completely replace the engine because of it! -- 1998 3.8L V6 sport gold metallic, Flowmaster 80 series, whisper lid+FRA, k&n filter.
