Ram air hood + Fast Toys?

Posted By: BirdtotheBone On: 09-01-2008 @ 16:27:50         Reply | Edit
So I bought the ram air hood for my V6. Yes I know it doesn't do much, I just like the look. In an attempt to at least get a little use out of it, I made a little piece that seals between the hood's outlet and the stock air filter. I did notice a little difference. But now I'm wondering if I could get an even bigger difference if I added the Fast Toys duct. More air = more power, right? My only concern is that the slight pressurization my hood is supposedly creating will be lost by adding the second opening, but the Fast Toys is supposed to create a similar pressurization. I guess my question is that, would two sources of ram air pressurization work together, or would one win out and just push air out the weaker one?

Also, here is a picture of the piece I made, just to better help your understanding.

Neither of them create any performance-increasing pressure, so I wouldn't worry about that.

If Fast Toys Ram Air doesn't do anything, how come so many people here have bought it?

ftra will bring in colder air, but so will the free ram air mod. get a lid, filter and either ftra or the free mod

That's correct, you will get colder air from it, but there's no significant pressure increase that will increase performance. The performance increase comes from the colder air allowed into to the airbox, not from any sort of pressure or "mild supercharging effect."
