The 18X reference pulses are passed from the CKP sensor to the ICM on the CKP sensor 1 circuit. The 18X reference pulses are used for fuel injection and ignition control. After the ICM receives both signals, the ICM passes the 18X and 3X reference signals to the PCM. the PCM likely then converts it to analog and stick it in the dash id assume. it seems to me that by the diagrams i am reading that the crankshaft position sensor is a 4 wire sensor that has a 1X and an 18X sensor read out one for each wire, the 1X is on the yellow wire, i cant find the pinnout for the ICM as to which hole in the ICM that yellow wire goes to, but thats all i got. --
