gearshift button!

Anybody out there had a problem with the automatic gearshift button sticking? On my 98 F/B, the plastic button has gotten in the habit of jamming up, so I can't push it in to shift into park or reverse. Sometimes it jams, other times it's fine.
Tried a little WD-40, but that only seems to help temporarily.
thanks!

Try taking the shifter off and cleaning it. There is a little pin on the back of the shifter. Pull that out and you can take it off. If that doesn't fix it, try to find one in a salvage yard if you don't wanna spend the money for a new one. They are the same in all 93-02 Fbodies I believe. -- Trent

Thanks, guys.
I sprayed some WD-40 again, this time DOWN the shaft instead of just in the button hole, it seems to be OK for now. I think maybe the inside metal shaft was just getting sticky down at the bottom.

Check your shift from park solenoid in the console to make sure its actually releasing. Those tend to go bad. Unless you just like pouring oodles of wd-40 in your console. --
