went to kentucky Posted By: Storn On: 11-21-2008 @ 19:00:50 Reply | Edit i live in northwest indiana, and just drove down to northern kentucky to pick up a trans for 100 bucks. my first gear is getting a little hard to make it into when at a stop sometimes, and the 5th gear syncro is going out, so i figured what the hell. for 100 dollars and (ouch 55 in gas) it was mine. im thinking once my current trans goes out i can throw this one in and be a little easier on it than the one ive torn up. has anyone else here destroyed a T-5 trans in these cars? it doesnt seem to be all that strong, like i could ruin it anytime if i wanted to. anywho, ran about 2800-3000rpm the whole way down and back, and still got over 27mpg...i guess ill leave the egr blocked off. i was thinking of fabricating a way to put it back together but the gas mileage hasnt dropped enough to justify more money and work, lol. next thing you know parts wont be worth it to go pick up from somewhere else even remotely far just because of gas prices --

NO they are not strong. thus, why you must NOT abuse them. you gotta pay to play mang --
