Ive stayed incredibly busy around here for the past few months. Ive already completed the first officers course (LDAC). Thats what gets you your rank of 2LT. The following 2 courses are considerably easier but time consuming and nothing hinges on completion of those. Its more like a check the block deal. Course #2 give me indepth insight on tactics from a commanders perspective and course #3 for me is on learning how to do Logistics in all aspects. "Hope they dont send your ass overseas..." Hmmmmm....... Bosnia 1999 South Korea 2000-01 Guyana (S.A.) 2003 Iraq/Kuwait 2004-05 I dont see why anything would change now that I have officers rank and a degree.

==Sold but NEVER forgotten: 1997 Camaro V6 - Intake, Ignition, 180 Thermo== Posted By: goldenphoenix On: 05-04-2008 @ 14:13:33 Reply | Top | Edit Well Hurley, I actually went to the Leadership Development and Accessions Course (LDAC = BOLC 1, Basic Officers Leadership Course) last summer to get all my qualifications and assessments. It is slightly different from the Marines, from what Ive heard from some of the services cadets but I couldnt tell you in any detail. LDAC sucked! I mean I made some good friends there and all but that happens at every military course you attend so thats nothing special. Honestly I would say that it comes the closest to a gentlemens course that Ive ever attended. But to call it a gentlemens course is not truthful. The assessors didnt yell or scream at anyone during the 35 days of training but they didnt hesitate to write you up an evaluation that would rip you a new butthole. 
Honestly, the hardest part would be the sleep deprivation. From day one you cant get anymore than 6 hours of sleep so if you fall behind then you will never catch up and its just a slippery slope from there. Even if you have managed to get all of your leadership responsibilities taken care of before lights out then you still have 10 days out in the field (training) where they are going to make sure that you dont recieve any more than 3 hours of sleep each night. During my field training I (we all) displayed our leadership abilities using tactical exercises such as movement to contact, knock out a bunker, ambush etc. so during those 10 days we stayed on our feet with the rucksacks either marching or getting ready to attack, all day long! I lost 10 lbs during my ten days out there and I was feeling rather sickly by the time I came back in. I didnt have time to eat more than one meal a day. But yeah, I was so tired out there that I couldnt sit down at all without falling asleep, which resulted in a negative evaluation. But there were others out there who couldnt even give out an operations order, standing up, without going to sleep....I witnessed this first hand.
Sleep deprivation was the worst. Fear of heights is probably second worst. Between the obstacle course and the water obstacle course you often found yourself at heights of up to 70 feet on different obstacles. If you dont fear heights then its no big issue. Its just another opportunity for you to display your ability to suppress your fears. Rappeling from about 60 ft has had a history of unnerving some people as well. Most of our people/cadets were brand new. There were a few prior service cadets but we made up less than 10% of everyone. -- Why in the world would I ever want to downgrade to a V8? My chauffeur on the charter bus wouldnt allow any extra stops. I had briefly hoped to get to have some free time at SEA-TAC before I left but that wasnt the case. I literally left the bus running to make it to my flight on time.
I like Greater Seattle alot. Hopefully I will have more time to get to goof off the next time I go through there. I was through there in 2000 but I wasnt a member of this board at that time, though I did have the Firebird. I dont even know that you would have been out of High School at that time!
