strange squeaking Posted By: bigcatchdaniel555 On: 05-16-2008 @ 20:45:39 Reply | Edit Ok heres the deal the car starts and runs fine. However after a few minutes there is a light squeak coming from the power steering side it comes and goes. As time passes the squeak gets louder and longer but still shutting on and off. I'm not sure about a vac leak because the motor runs fine even squeaking. I removed the belt and turned all the pulleys and they sounded fine I even used a mechanics stethescope on everything. So I;m out of ideas any advice. Also I have an exhaust leak coming from the bottom of the egr valve to the header anyone know what that little gasket that mates the two flanges together is called. BTW the car is an 01 firebird automatic v6. Maybe a vac leak however it still runs good. Also if you guys know what the part is called that goes from the hose on the bottom of the egr to the header the flange thats on the header to the egr hose has a bad gasket whats it called.    Posted By: Storn On: 04-29-2008 @ 22:18:48 Reply | Top | Edit ive heard that some people say their egr valve makes a chirping sound like a bird...you could try unplugging the egr connector and see if that gets rid of your noise...if you do unplug it, the pcm will set a code, so you'll have to have somewhere like autozone erase the code for free if you dont have a way to do it yourself... --

Im gonna try the egr and replace the pcv just in case. It almost sound like its coming from the back top of the engine since i got underneath the car. Is there any vac hoses back there. Unfortunatley I havent found any success stories on fixing it ay ideas. However the peple that Ive talked to said that they tried to auto parts store pcv and its junk not working correctly. The one i putin helped but didnt solve it. The kit pontiac offers is the valve new o-rings gaskets for the top cap and map sensor a new spring and cap. Its only 20 bucks so its worth a shot. I can only find the pcv but like any other motor shouldnt it have a breather of some sort.
