I just aquired an 01 firebird with the 3800 v6. The guy who had it before me was prepping it for a turbo but never finished. So the car is currently running open headers the drivers side header has a sensor of some sort in it. What is this?? I know the oxygen sensors are supposed to be by the cats but the cats are long gone; I dont see any dangling wires or plugs and the motor runs great so should I look further.
The airbox and the like is gone. From pics Ive seen there is supposed to be an air temp sensor in there once again no signs of it are present is it a big deal. Could there be a chance its capped? I have a service engine light and change oil light on I know they could be a million things. However I'm leaning to the fact that the gas cap is missing, and the oil sensor is bad but Im not sure so any input is good. Im mechanically savvy just usually stick to ford. Thanks Dan

if you can, post some pics.

the sensors in the headers are the Front 02 sensors.

the intake sensors are very important in the front, if the wiring is still there, you can buy some new sensors.

like i said, pics would help a ton.

Thanks. I have to get door keys because the guy I bought the car from didnt give me a door key so its locked and I cant pop the hood at the moment.Do I need the rear o2 sensors. Its probably capped off because as I said nothing is dangling or cut. That being said I would assume that the air temp sensor is there somewhere but I didnt see anything where would the wires come out of the motor at? Any diagrams anyone has would help thanks.

Thanks guys I finally got the keys so I will post some pics if need be. I found the wiring for the air sensor and its intact so thats cool. The thing I cant find is the plug for the o2 sensor in the exhaust pipe is it on the pass. side or drivers also where does hook into on the motor maybe I can trace it.Dan
