Hmmm I have been talking to Mr. Crunkmaro and he has helped me want to go v8. One of the main reasons I didn't want to get a v8 is because of the gas, but when I compared the LS1 and the 3800 there really isn't any diffference then maybe 1 MPG. Soooo, how much do you guys think it would cost me to get EVERYTHING to have the swap done?

Oh yeah, have any of you ever heard of anyone putting an LS2 GTO motor into an fbody, I think that would be sooo cooooll...

as per the old consensus, its much cheaper to sell yourcar, and buy an LS1 car.

but if i do that swap, doesnt my car still list as a v6 on insurance?

And would it still be more expensive if I had a friend of whom I could get the LS1 engine for ONE dollar?

Actually Golden, I did my best to talk to him about getting a turbo, but as he explained it all to me, a turbo is the most complicated and expensive way to beef up a car

^ In all reality, the prices would be pretty close depending on where you got your LS1 and what year car it came from.

Here's an easy way to know what you'll need for the swap.

What does an LS1 car have thats different from your car besides the engine and tranny? <--If you answered that, then that's what you'll need.

If you can a donor car for all the parts, then I'd say go for it, but if not, it will be cheaper to buy an LS1 car.

And for putting an LS2 "GTO" motor in an fbody, it can be done, but its just an LS2, it being in a GTO doesn't make it any more special.

Oh yeah, last thing. If you do follow through with the swap, yes your insurance will still say you have a V6. BUT, if you were ever to get in a wreck, or the insurance company found out somehow, you'd be screwed.

^^ i know you said you had an ls1 that you could get from a friend for cheap. the only other things that i can think of off the top of my head would be the ECU the harnesses k-member and what not.

also keep in mind that ricky has a goal of 400 hp at the crank...now before kevo comes in here and flaunts his 550 chp...lets keep in mind the cost involved in kevo's build.

i AM a traitor. my next goal is to convince him to buy a 2nd gen fbody

lol i cant afford a V8 equipped camaro or turbos or any of that stuff to make me keep my v6 lol i'm thinking of just getting rid of the camaro 93' and look towards a 2000 Buick GS pushing 240HP after trading in the fbody. i'm beginning to think like a traitor right?

well my friends says he knows a guy that would pay $600 cash and my friend would only give me $400, how much is it even worth?
