Just got my bird back from the shop. They replaced the crankshaft sensor, ignition module and fuel line.

It drives fine on the way home but after a day or two of resting. It starts up fine but sputters when you accelerate past 2,000 rpms. The notes from the exhaust are toned down and sounds like someone is cupping the exchaust with their hands and releasing over and over. The car is not powerfull at all.

So I took it back and the shop says its needs wires and plugs now. They are old. But is the shop really just tyring to get more money out of me? Would faulty plugs and wires cuase this?

Yep, plugs and wires are usually the first thing to go.

It just sucks to have to have to pay more for the repair. They are cutting me a deal and I am only paying for parts.

It drove fine for about 2-3 days then sat for 2 days and started this sputtering.

Thanks for the advice. Is there another part to look at as well?

the ignition coils do cause problems, but its much less likely. get the plugs and wires and see where your at.

OEM plugs and wires shouldn't run you but about $50

^^ I'm with dumbass. You could do the plugs and wires yourself. It isn't that hard, just time consuming. Also when you/mechanic has the plug wires off check the terminals on the coil packs. When mine were going bad, I had 2 different terminals on 2 different packs corroded to hell.

Nah, I'm just jealous of you having a built/working T-5. Mine shot craps a couple of weeks ago and I lost 3rd gear. Good thing I had a buddy with a cousin (coupla good ol' boys) with a 97 T-5 with 150k on it that we swapped in on a Saturday. Costed me a whole 50 bucks and a case of beer.

im sure im gonna find a way to kill the T5 when i go turbo. so i might have to swap a T56, i hear they are making a conversion kit.
