I know what Im doing now....

Posted By: goldenphoenix On: 03-15-2010 @ 09:29:46         Reply | Edit
Graduation, commissioning and my wedding are all just around the corner! The Mississippi National Guard made me an offer that I just couldnt refuse (and they really did put alot of effort to keep me from going away.) Im going to be going to 185th Aviation Brigade HQ HQ Co. to be their S-5 (Public Affairs) officer in a Captain's slot. My branch however is going to be Transportation (logistics) with a follow on for Public Affairs. They are supposed to be deployed shortly after I get done with the military schools however. That could be good or bad. Im pretty much up for it other than being a newly wed thats seperated from his wife for the first year of marriage. However upon return to the US they told me I would stand an excellent chance of an AGR job with MS doing my job as a Transportation officer and that was my professional "bullseye". I got everything that I asked for and then some so I am VERY VERY HAPPY!!!

Ive got yet ANOTHER opportunity to die for my country!!! 10 years service 5 deployments.
--
Why in the world would I ever want to downgrade to a V8?

Well here...let me correct myself for you!

Graduation, commissioning, my wedding AND THE NEW V6 HORSEPOWER RECORD are all just around the corner! However upon return to the US they told me I would stand an excellent chance of an AGR job with MS doing my job as a Transportation officer and that was my professional "bullseye" SO THAT I CAN MAKE SOME EXCESSIVE MONEY AND BUY AN UPGRADED TURBO SYSTEM ALONG WITH SOME OTHER GOODIES. I got everything that I asked for and then some so I am VERY VERY HAPPY!!!

Ive got yet ANOTHER opportunity to die for my country!!! 10 years service 5 deployments.

She took it pretty hard at first because she thought we were going to be forced to have all of our "first" apart. But as it turns out my National Guard unit is not supposed to get activated until mid/late 2009 and then still not deploy until 2010 and who knows what the situation on the ground in Iraq will look like by then. So, shes doing a whole lot better than what she was doing initially.

Congrats, I have no clue what you are talking about, but it sounds super duper. : )

Thanks! Yes I know there was alot of military jargon in there but from my perspective I really couldnt have nailed down a better job than what Ive gotten and what was offered to me. Alot of young Lieutenants want to be the one in charge of kicking down doors and conducting raids.......Ive already done all of that as a Sergeant and lower and all I was looking for was a nice comfy job behind a desk pushing paper. I got what I wanted plus I get to rub shoulders with all the big wigs and celebrities....and news crews.

Alright...so maybe I dont know what Im doing! I got a phone call today from a Colonel with the Active Duty Army asking me to reconsider the option of going Active Duty again for a few years. Usually they will only ask you once if you want to go with the National Guard/Reserve or if you want to go Active. I had chosen National Guard but the Colonel told me that they are rather desperate for Transportation Officers and if I would possibly reconsider to go Active in May of 2008. I have to give him my "final" answer on or before Friday.

Just whatever you do don't accept an assignment to come to Korea. You'll regret it for the whole year.

Hey goldenphoenix, from what I've read on fbody you're pretty good at this V6 thing. I'm new to building up small engines, and am trying to get 200-225 out of my 2.8. I'm currently pushing 140 or so(currently has K&N,MSD 6AL/Coil, High flow MAS), but I don't have a dyno. I want to do some sort of head job(been told I want aluminun heads), aggressive cam (thinking bout Edelbrock 3790), intake(not sure what), and a 62mm MRZ big bore TB. I'm thinking all this will get me there. Any thoughts?

kscamaro.

your better off switching motors.

kscamaro....Ive already been stationed in Korea so I know whats its like already. I was based at Camp Casey with duece tank back in early 2000.I dont think duece tank is there anymore. The city right outside of Camp Casey was Tongduchon (sp?).

I agree with Crunkmaro. You will really need to replace your engine to make some really big power. Now somebody made "the iron duke" which was a 2.8 liter engine, just like yours, that made about 450 horses at the engine but it really didnt last for very long at all. Your going to toss ALOT of money into an engine only to see maybe 250 rwhp at best. So I would recommend that you upgrade to the 3.8 especially when there are tons of them out and available in the $500 range.

I maybe the boss but I still cant win a battle ALL by myself. My job is to come up with plan for victory and execute it...if i cant come with a good enough plan then I take suggestions from others...but always listen to input at all times ; )....and give the final yay or nay on the execution.

the iron duke was a 4cyl that came in a few fbodys a while back. People say that you can boost the shit out of it and it will hold up.

Tongduchon is right. I'm 21 days out right now and can't wait to get the hell outta Camp Casey, hit stateside, and drive my Camaro again. That's why I'm doing research now. I've got all the suspension parts waiting for me right now. Now what to do to the engine. 3.8L is still a 60 deg that'll bolt to my T5 right? My problem is work space. I'll be on leave through Dec but I'm not sure if I can do an entire engine swap by myself OVER Christmas. Then I have to drive my next duty station on a newly installed engine? Not wise in my book. Maybe I'll just wait til I get to Campbell.

Bryan...Im basicly DONE with the officers program! I have already been assessed and pending graduation from college WILL be commissioned in May 2008. My orders as Lieutenant Wade are quite literally enroute!

For me I get paid as a O1E with 10 years service which pretty much brings me to about $65,000 a year no matter what job I do.
