I have a 2002 RS and I seen on here that someone had gotten theres to 500rwh I was curious what needed to be done to do that and about how much it would cost i am overseas in germany right now and I will be going to the Desert soon so I am curious as to how much I should put aside to start modding my car. Also if you have any suggestions for a first time modder, like what should be done first before other things are done to it. I also was curious if what some of your guy's experience are as to what works better on a V6; a supercharger or a turbo? Thanks

If you have to ask, your not ready to do it. It take a whole lot of knowledge and money to be able to get 500+ on a 3.8. -- Owner of HBHRacing.com Xtreme performance products

500rwhp isn't all that easy to hit in a V8, so setting that as a goal for a 6'er is a little high. If I were you, I would set aside the money for heads, cam, exhaust, gears, and then worry about numbers.
Also, numbers are generally overrated, what you should look for is the best possible combination for what you are going to do. If this is going to be a street car, you are probably going to have some trouble with 500rwhp driving around. As a first time modder, I would guess that you really haven't dealt with anything near that power (unless you have generous friends that let you drive their vipers and vettes) so start slow and work your way up. High power cars and inexperience lead to a staggering number of deaths and accidents. --

and even worse than an accident...a blown engine. because theres nothing worse then seeing a car that looks absolutely pristine...yet wont run worth a shi*
if your really truly serious about getting a high power 3.8l...
your going to need the following
compeltey built engine...forged internals custom cams heads top of the line parts + all the other stuff (ignition, harnesses gaskets fluids)
tuning tuning
your power adder...whether it be turbo or supercharger your going to need those,...all supporting hardware (nuts bolts that stuff) plus all supporting mods (fuel pumps fuel lines tuning tuning tuning intercoolers bovs etc)
tuning tuning tuning tuning tuning
if your going to spray it...then your going to need the nitrous system + possibly a plate standalone tanks electronics
tuning tuning tuning
drivetrain- performance rebuilt tranny + driveshaft + new stronger rear end (12 bolt most likely)
suspension-...everything
and tires
i say...conservative estimate would be right around 30 grand (+cost of car)
....the first time --

oh yeah...as for first mods
headers + high flow cats (or no cats if you dont have emissions) and a good catback (borla, magnaflow, loudmouth, tsp rumbler)
and a whisper lid + air filter
deal with that first...THEN
nitrous + gears (together would be cool then you get two birds with one stone when you have to get it tuned)
idk its late --
