K&N FIPK
Category:  Air Induction
Difficulty:  3
Approximate Time:  1 hour
Application(s):  K&N FIPK

Tools Needed:
Screwdriver. Small socket set.

Parts Needed:
K&N FIPK kit.

Purpose:
To improve the air flow and increase the power by the kit's claimed 13.2hp (other sources claim more)

How - To:
Step 1
Disconnect battery negative terminal.Disconnect terminal connector from MAF. Disconnect IAT terminal from front airbox. Remove the air box lid and remove the rearmost intake hose so that the whole lid/hose/MAF assembly lifts off as a complete unit.

Step 2
Unbolt the lower airbox assembly and remove. Remove the two rubber radiator mounts from underneath as they fit on the new FIPK baseplate. Fit the new baseplate using the new bolts provided.

Step 3
Disconnect the rear hose from the MAF and store. Disconnect lid. Gently ease the IAT sensor out of the silencer. Use a flat screwdriver edgeways to pull it out gently. Now the hard part - you have to remove the MAF from the plastic silencer. The MAF is sort of sealed into this piece of plastic and is secured by a small ring around the front of the MAF which sits in a small groove. It's a swine to get out. You can cut it out or "stretch" the plastic to remove the MAF so you might possibly be able to use it again. Chances are you won't.

Step 4
Once removed, clean it up and insert in the two hoses provided. Secure with jubilee clips provided. Attach to filter. Be careful when you screw the rubber bung into the nose of the filter and ensure you fit the rubber washer behind it. Now here, I would bend the protruding retaining post forward GENTLY to fit the locating bung in. It has a Nyloc nut but try and hold the rubber bung with something as the turning motion shears the rubber bung from the screw itself and you have to epoxy resin the two parts back together again.

Step 5
Using the rubber bung provided, place the IAT sensor into the FIPK filter. Reconnect the IAT connector ensuring it isn't fouling anything as it's a stretch. Reconnect MAF connector. Reconnect battery and fire it up, checking for leaks.
NB: If you don't disconnect the battery, you'll throw an SES light but this is easily reset.
