Comments:
Is there an easier thermostat to change that the LT1's? First suck out about a quart of coolant out of the rad, removed the inlet elbow, remove the t-stat bolts and housing, and swap t-stats. These t-stats have a built-in rubber seal - no gaskets to scrape, no RTV, and no coolant on the floor. I still need to have my PCM programmed for fan temps. From what I've seen, the LT1s require a special t-stat, so the ones at your local discount auto parts shop probably shouldn't be used. At $18 this one is a little spendy, but it is the same design as the OEM. Gotta have it here in AZ.

Comments:
I bought the 180 degree for my 1996 Z28 did help the car out a little bit from runnng quite as warm since the stock 180* and the hypertech 180* open at different tempature it does help since 160* was to low and will sludge up the motor. Great for the highway and waiting at the drag strips for your run.
