Monthly/Yearly Donor Program

Other sites have taken to having 500 sponsors and becoming income sources for the site owners. FBody.com (me) gets plenty of emails from such potential sponsors looking to place an ad on the site. Generally this would be great, however, having a shop as a sponsor seems to be a real liability as we've all come across a horror story, or many, from every shop. Every shop pisses someone off at some point and since internet based drop shipping parts companies are a dime a dozen and come and go and change names to hide, etc, I've decided its best to just disassociate from any of them, for good. In other words, FBody.com will no longer show a banner or advertisement for any company. We have a shop ratings system that allows you the members to rate and comment on shops and you are free to discuss the good and bad about any shop on the forums, we're just not going to force a company onto your monitor.

That all said, this leads to a real dilema. How does FBody.com raise money to pay the server bills? Hopefully through you the members. We have, at the time I wrote this, about 80,000 members registered. We have about 12,000 members that login in a month. we have about 5,000 members that post a message/review/timeslip (do something active) in a month. If just 100 of those member's donated $1.00/month through PayPal, I would end up with about $67/month after paypal fees. That would cover about 70% of the bill. If 100 people donated $2/month, I would end up with about $164/month which would pay the current bill and I'd even make a few dollars that I could put towards new/faster hardware and/or a faster connection.

If you have $1/month to spare, or $12 a year (paypal takes less if you send $12 once) please consider setting up a PayPal subscription to donate to this site. As of right now, you get nothing special back, maybe if someone can suggest something they'd like to see such donors get, I could implement a donor benefit program, but for now, nothing special.
