Procharger Questions

Posted By: 95BandiTA On: 07-06-2009 @ 19:50:26         Reply | Edit
Just wondering what size head unit is best for my car and how much boost I can safely run. I have a fully forged bottem end 383 LT1, 9.1:1 compression, block has stainless steel o-rings for nitrous with copper head gaskets. LE3 heads and LE custom blower cam. Just wondering if the D1SC or the F1 would be better suited for my car and how much boost can I safely run with a front mount intercooler? The car wont be driven daily but will probably see 100-150 miles a week. Will be running primarily 93 octane. Might run alcohol injection later on but I just want to get the car running at this point. Thanks for the help.

After having one on my car, I'd say you're better off getting a blower bigger than needed and use a wastegate to bleed off any pressure more than what you want to run. I had a d-1sc that could do 10psi with the biggest pulley, and pullied to the max made 15-16psi. Prochargers info shows 18psi would be the top of the intercooled "safe" area for you, but things like that alcohol injection can take that higher. Think I'd put at least an f-1 on there, if not an f-1r.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the F1 was rated for street use or not. One of my friends thought they were race only. Do you know by chance? Thanks again for the help

I know I've seen plenty of street cars with f series blowers. I believe they design all of their blowers to work in really any application.
