tach late..?

Posted By: ROSST On: 06-29-2009 @ 21:34:38         Reply | Edit
So i fired this thing up this eve. It sounds very nice. I let it get warn for a minute or 2 and shut it off. I went around and just gave a once over to check things out all seem perfect. I checked the oil, and then the coolant. Everything was good. I fired it back up and got it warm again. I rapped the throttle a couple of times and the tach seems very late like it cant keep up with the speed of how fast the motor will rev.? Kinda like one of my vintage race bikes with a mechanical tach cable.. I bummed it a couple of times where I know it went 5000 and the tach may have got there but long after the RPM came down? any ideas?

Our tachs are notoriously slow and inaccurate. If you have Datamaster or other monitoring software, it will give you a much more accurate real-time indication of engine RPM.

Thanx bro. Yes it seems VERY late. While driving it keeps up much better. BTW, drove it with open headers to the exhaust shop today,.. Im very pleased. 1-3 It was like driving on ice. I shifted before it got to 6000, it pulls hard even spining the tires and going sideways. Were going to get some comp drag radials on it, and continue to break in the motor. Very smooth power delivery and no hicups or flat spots. I'll know more when it is a tad quiter, and has some traction. Brian at PCM's seems to have done a great job with the ECU.
