Hello,
Has anyone purchased and replaced the high beam/turn signal/window washer lever?
My high beams don't like going off. I.E> it does click to make them go off all the time.
All other functions work.
Its a 1995 z28 automatic.
Do I have to remove the column, or just lower it?
I assume this is a dealer only part?
what is a good price?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Bob

Or...is there a HIGH beam relay?
When you click the level, sometimes it changes the high/low beams. Other times( which is mostly) there is no click and it does not change..

So I went to autozone.. I know most of their employees know jack about cars. But the kid working the counter said the same thing happened on his 87. It was the switch under the sterring wheel..this sound like it makes sense?

The lever moves a rod that runs down toward the base of the column. The switch that it moves is adjustable. It has 2 8mm bolts I think. I had this problem when I bought my Z28.
The fix is to drop the column. Take out the kick panel, take the 3 bolts out of the fire wall, take the two bolt/nuts off and let the column rest in the driver's seat. Did I mention to disable your air bags while doing this? Make sure you do. You don't want them to deploy accidentally.
The switch is very hard to get to, you will be able to see it, but you won't be able to look at it while you fiddle with it. You'll be doing this by feel. You'll need an 8mm, I believe it's 8mm wrench, not socket. You'll have to feel the bolts and just loosen them tiny bit until you can slide it up toward the steering wheel. Once you slide it up tighten it down and viola, fixed switch.
Don't back the bolts out all the way, just loosen them enough to reposition the switch.
Good Luck, it took me about 45 minutes to do. --

You were right!
When I replaces the ignition switch, I put the highbeam switch on toward the front of the car. It needed to go 1/4 inch toward the steering wheel.,
Smaller hands would help!! lol..
Done in about 45 minutes...
thanks again,
Bob
