Hello,
I need help please. My 94 LT1 sat for a few months. I tried to start it and it tried to turn over made a clunk from the starter area and now all it does is click. I thought it was a dead battery so I replaced the battery but just keep getting clicking from the starter. If anyone could help me out I sure would appreciate it.

Remove the starter and have it tested as it is highly likely that it's broken. --

dont buy anything electric from autozone or advanced, its all junk. yes its cheaper and prolly has a lifetime waranty, but its not worth it. my friends tried to tell me and even the guy working at autozone the second time i needed the starter replaced. go to napa. napa uses echlin electronics and raylock starters, altenaters etc. in the end its worth it!! -- 95 camaro Z28 stock for now but a 383 is in the works

Yeh, I had an intermittent problem with it clicking instead of starting. I could turn the key and it would click. I'd pump the clutch with the key on an it would engage and disengage the safety switch and eventually it would start until Nov. Then I pulled the starter and found the wire from the solenoid to the starter wasn't connected properly. I took the wire off and cleaned up the pitted surface of the washers and nut. Unfortunately I broke the stud that comes out of the solenoid and ended up soldering it up. After about another month it did it again and I picked up one at Autozone. Not my best choice, I had planned on one from Summit, but my fix didn't last long enough.
Also, you can't get just the solenoid for an LT1 starter. You have to buy the whole thing. --
