Radiator fans not working-Help!

I've just done the TB bypass and put in a 160 degreee thermostat, I also put stainless steel braided hose on almost everything. While doing this, I cleaned the engine by hand. (Man does it look goooood) Also drained radiator and refilled with proper amount of Dexcool. Took the car out and everything was great.....until I sat at a stoplight. Temp. went staright up. I limped home and popped the hood. Engine overheated. Sounds like fan trouble. I Let the car, (and me) cool down for a while then jacked the car so I could see the fans. Using jack stands and a backup of stacked bricks I started the engine. Temp. went straight up and the fans never came on. Is the new stainles hose "shorting" out the pcm? Did I ruin a sensor while cleaning? Where are the sensors responsible for the fans to come on? HELP! steve -- 97 Camaro ss slp, 53,000mi.

It sounds like 2 things could have happened.
#1 You may have knocked the wire for temp sensor that controlls the fans loose.
or
#2 you didn't bleed the air out of the system and the sensor is getting an improper reading. --

Thanks for helping, this is the best site! OK, first exactly where is the temp sensor? and when I filled the system, I could only get coolent out of the thermostat housing bleeder, not the heater hose bleeder. I tried everything, capping-uncapping, engine running-not running, one bleeder at a time. and when I tightend the therm. housing bleeder, coolent was just spurting...not a steady flow. Maybe I should try filling again. What's the proper method? I've still got to get those fans on. They should be running if the engine is overheating, right?

Try this before bleeding. Whith the engine cold. Open both bleed screws and pop the radiator cap off. Get a water hose or a large funnel to pour in the coolant. Place the funnel or hose in the radiator to that you can force the water in.
Ive never dont this with coolant, I just use water hose water. I make a seal with my hands at the radiator and by forcing water in untill the bleed screws start seeping. Then close the system and I usually have to bleed once, sometimes not at all. But my heater hose just has a short loop.
Dont open the bleed screws while the engine is running!
The fan sensor is located on the waterpump.

what u have most likely is a faulty temp sensor located on driver side head. it tells your fans to come on factory specs are primary fan on at 222* secondary on at 242* GM designed these cars to run HOT!!! But i had my temp sensor fail in a year. Its a 5 min fix. Also u can test the relay by jumping a wire where the relay diagram makes contact your fan should fire rite up. Then you change the temp sensor. Threaded into the drivers head between plugs. Easy fix.

The temp sensor in the head is only for the dash gauge. The sensor for the pcm (and therefore the fans) is located on the water pump itself as stated already. --
