weird question

Underneath trans am and camaro the bracket that’s just passed the tail shaft on the transmission don’t know what to call it older fbodys 83 to 92 don’t have one what is it main propose cause I am having exhaust issues with mine I now this is kinda a dumb question just curious

diveshaft tunnel brace. It's supposed to reinforce the floor pan. I took mine out for the same problem and have had it out for 3 years now. -- Steven, 96 Z28, member since 2001.

It isn't built stout enough to do much. I have been running without mine for over two years --

Mine is out as well. I took it off for clearence with the exhaust clamp. However, I bought a band exhaust clamp recently so I could put that back on and now I cant find the brace. -- 95 Z28, A-4, K&N intake, TF elbow, polished 52mm Edelbrock,free mods, gutted cat, Magnaflow catback, LT4 roller timing set, A/C AIR & EGR del. Meziere EWP, Hypertech prog, 160 stat, Hyp Tech coil, New GM transmission, rebuilt posi 2:73's. 97 Z28 convertable, A-4, fully loaded,bone stock.

If you want something effective, there are bolt-in driveshaft safety loops that go in its place. -- Steven, 96 Z28, member since 2001.

^ not effective on a lowered car. had one fold over to where the loop was rubbing a deep groove into the drive shaft. had no choice but drive it home that way. --
