I just finished installing a new electric water pump on my 95 T/A and was on my way to the auto part store to buy a clamp for the air intake to cap off the down pipe. It was running good until I gave it some throttle and I heard a pop and it shut off. It wont start back up and its now being towed back to my house. Any ideas on what might have happened??? --

Aghh, well I got there before the tow truck driver did and checked the accesory fuse under the hood where I spliced my power wire from the EWP into. And sure enough it was blown. Im guessing that the fuel pump runs through that fuse and when I hit the throttle it blew. I relocated the wire and it seems to be working great now --

You are running your EWP through a relay, correct?
It should be wired through a relay. You should have the power wire run from the battery or if you have the small junction that the main power goes to, through the relay. Then have a wire that goes to the ACC fuse which they will only run when you have the car on or in the ACC position. That way you're not trying to pull to much juice through the ACC fuse. --

Yeah I did, he called me to meet him at my car, and I arived before he did. I figured it was a shit shot but I checked the fuse and sure enough it was blown. So I took the fog light fuse plugged it into the Acc fuse slot and she fired right up. I called the tow truck driver and he said he just got pulled over, I told him I didnt need him anymore but good luck with the ticket
As far as a relay, no I didnt use one, I just grounded it and plugged the power wire into the fuse box. Now its tied in with the ac/cruise fuse. Im not sure how relays work. Any info would be appreciated --

If you don't you'd better stock up on fuses. It would be wise not to wire anything that draws a significant amount of amperage without a relay. Best case scenario is you pop fuses, worst case is you fry some wires and have to track it down in your ACC circuit, which would be very bad. A relay and all the stuff you need should be less than 10 or 15 bucks and is worth every penny of it! --

Don't use less than 10 gauge wire for your battery power and ground. You can use smaller 12 or maybe even 14 gauge for the switched power wire (the one that will run from the fuse box.) --

My CSR pump came with 14 guage wire, I spliced that at the connector with 12 guage(used a new male end connector). make sure your ground is the same size or bigger wire. the shorter the ground the better. --
