Catback arrived

Posted By: ScreaminEagle91 On: 07-30-2008 @ 16:40:45         Reply | Edit
Yesterday was a great day, I came home to find a large white box filled with goodies. A week ago I bought Magnaflow catback from www.planetmagnaflow.com for a mere $364 with free shipping. Summits price was $407. Next week I am however going to buy BBK shorties and y-pipe from Summit, since I cant find it cheaper anywhere else. What other things will I need while installing new headers? I'm thinkin about new O2 sensors, I obviously need a new cat, but i dont want to overlook anything. New gaskets and hardware are included with the BBK kit.

You might want to goahead and change the plugs and wires while your already in that deep.

Your motor mounts will also be very easy to access with the exauhst out of the way.

Are you needing to pass imissions? (new cat)

If your looking for 1/4 mile times, go longtube or go home!

I was looking at these Pacesetter mid lengths
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PSM%2D72C1335&N=700+4294924755+4294908216+4294908198+4294923429+4294839039+115&autoview=sku

or these BBK shorties
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BBK%2D1567&N=700+4294924755+4294908216+4294908198+4294923429+4294839039+115&autoview=sku

I plan on avoiding long tubes. As much as I want to drop my quarter times, it needs to be emissions legal and a daily driver. I know longtubes are great, but Id rather go with shorties or mids for the ease of installation and removal. Any opinions on the Pacesetters or the BBKs?
I also live in Pennsylvania, and if you've ever driven here, you know the rural roads are terrible, especially on Camaros.

i have edelbrock mids with a y pipe magnaflow hi-flow universal cat and a flowmaster catback
it sounds good now
but when i first got it it sounded soooo sick with the rumble and popping on deceleration
the install wasnt too bad at all

It looks like the bolt access on the driver's side BBK is going to be next to impossible. I have the Pacesetter dual-cat mids on mine, and they are very similar to those BBKs, and they suck. I've heard good things about the Pacesetter single-cat mids though. Nice looking car by the way.

Magnaflow is a great exhaust... Had one for a few years on my Z...

Also, MAC mids are a good set of street legal headers...
