'94 Z speedometer mystery

Posted By: Diamhea On: 05-30-2008 @ 11:59:54         Reply | Edit
My 94 Z28's speedometer only goes up to 120! I'm wondering how I have the V6 speedometer in my car. I'm assuming something broke and it was replaced, but wouldn't it be more trouble than its worth because it'd have to be synced?

you can get the right cluster off ebay for cheap. And it's a snap to put in.

Ha ok thanks. Was just curious if it had to re-sync itself or something. /Thread

I don't believe it'll have to sync'd, but if the cars ment to have a 120 speedo, the new speedo will be off. So you might want to make sure you have the wrong cluster now. Not sure how to check, but sure there's a way.

Wonder if my car was originally a V6...now this really has me thinking.

Likely it did not come with Z rated tires so it got the small speedo.

I have to correct myself, it actually only goes to 115.

Fergy's right. If you got a Z28 without Z rated tires it got the 115 speedo. If you purchased Z rated tires they would change out the speedo for you.

Digit 8 would be "P" if it is a factory V-8.

As far as I know they did it on all the Fbodies.
