I've heard octain booster is a waist of money and will only increase octain by .01 Again, this is just what I heard. I've also heard that you can get by with running 87 octain simply by staying off of the throttle. I'm not sure how I feel about that theory because I've had 87 accidently put into my car and it seemed to "buck" quite a pick. Give it a try and see how the car reacts, just stay out of the throttle. -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

i only ran 93 for like the first month that i got the tune
that shits almost 4.25 a gallon
and i work 20 miles away from my house
no way im running 93 my car gets like 16 miles per gallon

If I run octane boost it's Hyperlube octane boost... it increases the octane up to 7 numbers, not points which are .1 of a number. Most stuff says increases like 15-20 points wich would be 1.5 - 2 numbers. I get it at CSK auto or I think I've seen it at Autozone as well. About $8 comes in a black bottle. -- 95 Z28, A-4, K&N intake, TF elbow, polished 52mm Edelbrock, free mods, gutted cat, Magnaflow catback, LT4 roller timing set, A/C AIR & EGR del. It's best to run 89 and above if at all possible... Too low of an octane can cause premature detonation which over time can, even in small doses, cause problems...
I've never really understood the octane booster thing... If you want the higher octane, pay the extra $0.30 cents per gallon (X 20 gallons = $6.00) and get the extra couple full points right at the pump... --

With the LT1's compression being 10.5:1 it cant hurt. I think my car makes a couple more horse at the wheels with the octane boost over regular premium. I want to do a pull on the dyno with the boost and see if I pick up any power. -- 95 Z28, A-4, K&N intake, TF elbow, polished 52mm Edelbrock, free mods, gutted cat, Magnaflow catback, LT4 roller timing set, A/C AIR & EGR del. ^ I misunderstood... I thought you meant, buying low grade like 87 or 89 and dumping in octane booster... which is what doesn't make sense to me...
If you are putting in the high test at the pump and trying to bump it up even more, then sure, octane booster is really the only choice for getting over 93 or even 92 in some areas... --

I agree with ya on that...if a bottle of good booster cost $8.00 and lets say premium is .30 more per gallon if you have a 15.5 gallon tank it would cost you $4.65 more to fill it up. So if you do the math it would be cheaper to just get premium and it's better for your engine. -- 95 Z28, A-4, K&N intake, TF elbow, polished 52mm Edelbrock, free mods, gutted cat, Magnaflow catback, LT4 roller timing set, A/C AIR & EGR del. 87 octane - $3.95 per gallon x 15 gallons = $59.25
89 octane - $4.05 x 15 = $60.75
93 octane - $4.15 x 15 = $62.25
So by stepping back from premium to 87 you saved $3.00 on a tank of gas.
If you went and bought your octane booster to add to your 87 then you just spent $5 more over the cost of premium. Good call

yeah and when you think about it its not worth the 3 to 6 bucks you save at the pumps when you fill up when it causes a knock and you have to rebuild your engine -- 1994 Camaro- lt4 with CAI, t56 6 spd transmission

Thanks to every one for their input. In my area of California, the 87 stuff is priced at an average of $4.37 per gal. & 92 , the max. octane available, is around $4.89 a gal. or more. I found some octane booster at a .99 store, I bottle per 20 gal., so far it seems to working fine, even with some romps on the peddle, no ping & no noticeable power loss. Of course the only way to tell for sure would be Dyno testing.
