So I'm looking to get my car out of storage for the summer. Just in time to pay $4.00 a gallon..lol. Anyways, the car has about 77k miles on it and I was wondering if I should stick with high milage oil or switch over to mobile 1 synthetic? Also what weight oil should I use? Temperature should be between 50-85 all summer. Lastly, is there anything else I should remember to do prior to starting the car (ie: pull the igntion fuse out of the fuse box to get oil running through the motor). Not really sure...thx for the help guys! -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic at 166k. I've had no problems so far. --

5w30 would be just fine so would 10w30 as long as it doesn't get below 50. Synthetic oil might make any leaks you have a little worse or find one if you don't have any because the molecules of synthetic oil are smaller. If you do pull your ignition fuse I'd pull your injector fuses (red 7.5amp) as well so you don't flood your motor. -- 95 Z28, A-4, K&N intake, TF elbow, polished 52mm Edelbrock, free mods, gutted cat, Magnaflow catback, LT4 roller timing set, A/C AIR & EGR del. Personally, I always run synthetic in my engine. I would run some fuel cleaner through the tank with fresh gas. -- 95 Z28, A-4, K&N intake, TF elbow, polished 52mm Edelbrock, free mods, gutted cat, Magnaflow catback, LT4 roller timing set, A/C AIR & EGR del. Well, I put fuel stabalizer in the tank before I stored it. Not sure if that would have the same effect or not. I do believe I have a small leak at the bottom of the timing chain cover, where it meats the oil pan. I'm sure this might make it slightly worse but the leak was very small prior to storage. Thanks for the tips guys. Any others are welcome. -- 94z28 13.0@109 (still tweaking) best 60ft:2.22

Synthetic oil has a tendancy to clean up your engine. Engine gunk is bad, but it does tend to plug up potential leaks. Synthetic will clean up the gunk and reveal leaks. A common misconception about synthetic oil is that it will cause leaks, and that is untrue. It will simply reveal leaks. I've found that Bars Leak Stop actually is pretty effective and it's the only stop leak treatment that I've used that works, but I used it on a VERY small leak. I mean, this leak was so minor that it didn't even need to be fixed, in a month, it'd only leak a couple of drops (and it only leaked with the car off).
I'd run some injector cleaner with the premium. (You should be using premium regardless).
