I recently put a ws6 rear in my 97 z28 and it turns out that the ws6 rear is about a half inch shorter than the z28 rear. It has pulled the driveshaft out of the trans a half inch. Do i half to buy a new driveshaft thats a ws6 driveshaft or is there another way to fix this?

I didn't think they should be a different size... Have you measured both from housing to yoke? Or are you just going by the look of the shaft in the tranny?
Did you change to aftermarket or other control arms? --

is it pulled out when the car is on jacks and the rear is hanging down? because it will go back in then the rear is at ride height --

I measured from the diff cover to the yoke and there's a half inch difference and i still have the stock control arms on. and i measured it when it was jacked up but i jacked it up on the rear itself so the springs were compressed. the main problem is that everytime i start off hard u can hear something that sounds like heavey contact and i think it because of the driveshaft being pulled out. so i can't really get my foot into it right now because of the fear of breaking something. This is the only thing i can see is visually wrong with the car and i'm not sure what else it could be. The sound is coming from right under the shifter right were the driveshaft enters the trans.

I'm not positive, but I don't think the 1/2" would hurt it that much either way... You could probably get 1/4" movement in or out just by adjusting the pinion angle with some adjustable control arms...
Maybe there is some slack play in the rear... That can make a big "clunk" when you hit the gas from a stop...
If you put the tranny in neutral, how much rotation do you get on the drive shaft back and forth without getting resistence from the axles... --
