why is my lt1 eating distributors like candy Posted By: cunningham On: 04-29-2008 @ 09:30:56 Reply | Edit the dist. has been replaced 4 times in the last 3 years. the car has 157000 miles on it and still runs strong (wen its runing) i was told it may have something to do with the cam. -- 95 camaro Z28 stock for now but a 383 is in the works Posted By: zstr28 On: 04-29-2008 @ 09:51:51 Reply | Top | Edit I had to do mine 3 times befoe I got it right the last time. Bad cam bearings can cause vibrations wich could ruin it. But I'd start with checking the length of the camshaft pin. That was my problem. I can't remember the exact length but I foud it on here using the search tool. I also eliminated my manual water pump drive assembley to and EWP, incase the shaft was bent or the bearing was out. I also put in a new timing set while I was at it. So far no troubles after 2,000 miles in one month beating the piss out of it. --  95 Z28, A-4 MODS; K&N intake, TF elbow, polished 52mm Edelbrock,TB bypassed, gutted cat, Magnaflow catback, LT4 roller timing set, A/C AIR & EGR del. Meziere EWP, Hypertech prog, 160 stat, Hyp Tech coil, New GM transmission, rebuilt posi 2:73's.
