So I've seen a lot of postings and conversations about these vehicles with the same motor but the corvette was faster.... because of GM protecting the larger investment..
Has anyone figured out what GM has done differently to lower the HP on the firebirds?

Supposedly Vettes got a 4 bolt main and Fbodys got a 2 bolt main.
Vettes got true dual exhaust, fbodies got a restrictive exhaust setup.
I'm also fairly certain the Vette is lighter than the Fbody.
Probably more but that's all I could think of off the top of my head. --

Based on a weight vs hp ratio the vette is faster, a lil more areo dynamic and lighter. There is the IRS to deal with from a stop. So its really a issue of faster from a stop vs a roll/topspeed.
In essence the vette ON PAPER is faster. -- 2002 Navy Blue Metallic Trans-Am, 6 Speed, Leather, T-tops. SLP Flow Pack, Dynatech SuperMaxx, Corsa, Textralia clutch, Moser 12 Bolt, and BMR Suspension.

Yep, not really much difference in the engine bay... I'm not sure they even gave the vette a different tune... The vette will be a tad faster out of the box because of the things mentioned above...

I'll put it this way, there were two nice looking c5 vettes at the track when I went and they were only pulling 14.9's in the quarter. I pulled a 14.8. I think a lot of it was it was like 85+ degrees and humid. I want to go back when it's like 70 degrees or so. --
