Cannot find the leak! Thermostat housing?

Posted By: Formula93_350 On: 04-20-2008 @ 21:23:32         Reply | Edit
So I'm still chasing this weird link on a 93 Camaro Z28. The leak is coming from near the over flow tank. If the cars cold, it won't start leaking for a few minutes. I was thinking its the thermostat housing or the hose going to it. If it is, the leaks closer to the radiator. Any idea whats going on? Is it the thermostat? Where is the thermostat on the LT1? Is this a tough fix?

I doubt its the heater core, why would it only leak when it heats up?

because those things can happen, and i said it could be one of the lines from the heater core.

did you check around the low coolant sensor?

I had one of the heater lines, ones with the bleeder screws, split and spray coolant everywhere. I took it over to my dad's and put it on ramp. There was no leak so I took it down the road and heated it up. When I got back it was spewing again.

I would get it warm and slap a coolant system pressurizer (takes the place of the Rad Cap) on it if u can get ur hands on something like that. so u can shut the car off and listen/look around better. just an idea man.

yup, check it with a pressure tester, a running motor is a hard way to find a leak.

Throw some baby powder around where you think it is leaking from. After you run the car just see where the powder has streaks. A crazy technique i learned from a buddy a few years bcak. It's how we found out his oil dipstick tube was leaking so it can work.
