Sounds like a bad cat to me. The cat is clogged so the exhaust can't get out and is making the manifold glow. This will also make the o2's go crazy because they aren't getting the right readings.

I third the cat. The getting worse as it warms up thing is the right symptom. Could be that the cat went and that has caused other problems....like the o2 sensors getting nuked.

Edit: If it does need replacing get a high flow unit.

Lean Mix, Had a Bike that did this and headers glowed red. Bad O2 sensor, blocked fuel rail, and/or blocked fuel rail

I don't think it would be the cat since he has a 94 and is single cat

I'm gonna guess lean condition

how does the car run?

i gutted my cat and put it back and it cleared the problem, the only thing now is that it sounds like its a red neck car, so i'm going to weld on a straight pipe

Good to hear, the straight pipe isn't going to change the sound, get a hi-flow cat. It will calm down the noise.

straight pipe WILL change the sound, I know this
because I did it, used to have a gutted cat went
to a "test pipe"

gutted catalytic convertor will cause exhaust
turbulance which results in bad sound and some
power loss

I put a Borla XR-1 muffler in place of the cat . sounded real good and cut the back popping out , all of it .
