Post Your Roll Cage Pics.

Everyone post pictures of your roll cage. I want to see what different cages look like installed in Fbodies.
I especially want to see if there is a cage with a very low side bar, so it is as easy as possible to get in and out.
Also can you move/lean back the seat far enough before hitting the rear cross bar for a 6'3" person to fit comfortably in the car? --

There are rules for the height of the side bars, so you can really only go so low. I believe they have to cross between the shoulder and the elbow or something like that.
But anyways, here's a link to my cardomain page for the whole 8 point project. The cage is a Comp Engineering kit that cost 200 bucks. I had it professionally welded in for 350 bucks. The harnesses were another 200 bucks. I'm 6'1" and it has made it more cumbersome to get in and out. I noticed it most at the track where I had to get in and out a lot. For everyday use, it doesn't bother me so much. It's really nice to have more confidence in the safety of your car though. I'm 100% happy with the results.
Now for the link.........

Even though my car is a hard top, I noticed a HUGE difference in the rigidity of the whole car. Much more so than when I put the boxed subframe connectors on. --

Minor point... but so far what people have posted pictures of is a roll bar, not a roll cage. NHRA and IHRA differentiate between a bar (above 10.00 seconds) and a cage (below 10.00 seconds) with very specific definitions.
Under NHRA, you need a bar under 11.50 (coupes) and it only needs "5 points" - two for the hoop, two braces to the rear, and one side bar on the drivers side, passing the driver's arm between the elbow and the shoulder. You can ease access with a "swing out" side bar, since they are acceptable to NHRA.
A cage is required under 10.00 or over 135MPH, and has to be certified by an NHRA inspector. Its a lot more involved, with a halo, braces running down the A-pillars, side bars at the floor, in addition to the ones running past the arms, etc.
My bar....
An NHRA certified "cage":

Hey Ron and Fred does your cross brace on the hoop come completely out? I ask because I will need a cage soon, but my girls still ride in the back and I am afraid to put them back there with that bar right where their head is going in a wreck. Are the bars with that bar removable still legal? --

It was always my understanding the cross-bar can not be removable. But I can't find the actual words in the rule book. In actual practice, I've seen bolted in cross-bars pass tech with no problems. It will be different when you install a "cage" and have to have it inspected. Then it has to be welded to even get the sticker.
Same with an aftermarket seat. Technically, the back of an aftermarket seat is supposed to be attached to the cross-bar. Mine isn't and I've never had a problem in tech. But for a "cage", they do enforce the seat attachment requirement.... see the covertible above.

Not that I'm aware of. You can buy a rule book from NHRA for $10, or someone could copy the parts you need. If you are a member, you get a new rule book each year.
I've heard that starting in 2006, the full cages will be revised to include the "Pro-Stock" style surround for the driver.... gonna get a bit more expensive. Supposedly if your cage is certified before then its "grandfathered".

Problem is all my photos were on the fbody.com server, courtesy of Jim Hogan. But the link stopped working last Fall, and numerous e-mails to Jim have not gotten a response. It would be good if anyone knew where he was
I have my own site now, and I'm slowly putting the photos on there.

The Corbeau Forza is extremely comfortable. I've driven for two hours straight with no problems. Not a lot of "wiggle" room....
The Kirkey's in the convertible are not much in the way of comfort... only comfortable for maybe 8- or 9-seconds. --
