The other night my brother and I made some aluminum motor mounts for his 99 camaro ss. We're going to put them on this weekend so I told him I would go on some forums and get some feedback from others. Will they hold or should we just make them from steel? Just bear with me, my brother is the car guy, not me. Thanks in advance. Here's a picture I took with my phone.

What type of aluminum is that? It looks fairly
weak judging by the bolt holes.
How are you going to istall these? Will they bolt
direclty to the block and k-member?
I'm thinking just two of those would get ripped apart
by the engine torsion. -- Welcome to the Internet, where everyone's a mechanic and has a 10 second car.

If it's a high strength alloy.....maybe in a stock set-up. Big mods with big power, I would'nt trust my bike motor to that. The bolts will pull thru that little plate like a hot knife thru butter. I vote a big NO! -- 00' Trans Am convertible, M6 ,K&N, Edelbrock exhaust. SLP Loudmouth coming soon.

dont do it. the aluminum is to weak. if they don break or actually tear, they will bend and or stretch causing the engine alignment to get out of wack without your knowledge. there is a reason the mounts are made with steel to begin with. go with steel.
on a side note though - they look great. just not safe enough. --
