what would be the better way to go to buy a transmission that is already built or have someone build mine. also what would be the parts that id need to get if i was gonna have someone do it to mine.

Buying a used tranny is playing russian roulette. Have yours rebuilt and see if you can get a warranty.

As far as mods: Talk to a few tranny shops and see what they recommend. I would definately go with a high stall lock-up tq converter 3400RPM or more, and a mild shift kit. The shift points are tuned with the PCM so don't go over-board on the shift kit.
