LS1 and LS6 are both 5.7L Gen III motors.
The LS6 has a slightly different block, and mildly better heads/cam.
LS2 is a 6.0L Gen IV motor. If I remember correctly it uses something like LS6 heads. -- Former ride: 531RWHP/477RWTQ Only bolt ons! ...technically everything used a bolt to install

Kinda, you can get LS6 heads + LS6 Cam, but you still wouldnt have an LS6 block (which is a bit stronger if I remember correctly)
Anyways, the LS6 setup is as close to a useless heads+cam swap as you can get. There are dozens of heads and cam packages out there that will give you a ton more power

if your on a budget, go with the full bolt-ons first.
headers, intake, TB, MAF, Icats, ORY and a good tune
everyone wants to jump into internal engine stuff, and it gets expensive and complicated very quickly. --

i beat a vortec supercharged 347 fox. dynoed over 500hp by about 6 cars on the street.
everyone wants t throw tons of money at something. the key is to get a combination that works. something that makes power and will hook. --

you can have all the power in the world, but if you can't put it to the ground you are SOL.
Or if you bow your rear end to pieces, also SOL.
You can only run 6-8psi safetly on stock internals. If you just throw a turbo or supercharger on without supporting mods though, you are wasting your money and time. -- http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2210351

why not cam and heads plus some nitrous?
what does your friend have done to it? i would imagine that he has a motor swap. unless he has a magical motor under the hood. Beside that....your top end would break his butt in a little bit remember. i would go with cam and heads. just because hes lighter then you. But lsx top end kill man --

why not? this is why.
yesterday i re-tuned a heads/cam/nitrous car built by Vengance racing in ATL (gear change) anyhow, rodney and I were taking it back to the owner and it would not, NOT get away from my SS by any means.
the thing would haul ass, but a heads/cam combo does not mean that you will be any faster. too much hP and you have NO traction.
