Replacing Front Turn Signal

Posted By: cochran191 On: 03-21-2008 @ 17:10:13         Reply | Edit
I got my oil changed the other day and between the time I dropped it off and picked it up my right front turn signal light blew. I had my firebird for 4 years and it never blew a one. What is the best way to replace it? Should I just do it myself, which I'm not sure how to even get to the bulb, or take it somewhere and pay the $30 to do it?

its very simple, you can remove the headlight, its only one nut on the backside, if i remember correctly its a size 10. but once you do that just pull the headlight off and you should be able to see the turn signal, just twist and turn and take the light off.

I usually unbolt the black shroud that is underneath the car, mine is cut to where I only have to undo 3 bolts then it folds down to where I can get my arm up there to get to the light.

I'm with crispytoast....Pull the access panel under the car, that's what it's there for. You can reach up and twist the socket out of the housing and there is enough wire in there to actualy SEE when you put the new bulb in. Of course that is in my TA, I suppose it's possibly easier to pull the HL housing out on a Z/28.

pull the headlight for sure!

i can swap a pair of lights in about 2 minutes.

under the car sucks cause its hard to twist at all the crappy angles, and the access panels usually have shitty bolts.

Has anyone had to replace the signal cover? Mine seems to be cracked. Was wondering if that can be replaced or does the whole housing have to be purchased.
