i have owned several LT1 cars (94 z28, 95 impala, 92 vette, 95 vette, 94 z28) and loved them all. i recently bought a 98 z28 and i am really happy with it. its not perfect, but its in pretty good shape. 70k miles M6 for $7500. the first thing i want to fix is the stereo. it has the monsoon system with the cd changer in the trunk. all the speakers are blown and the changer doesnt work. i am not sure if i want to replace the whole system or not. will the monsoon deck work with after market speakers? what size speakers do i need? thanks for the help. --

LOL, good thing I don't care about handling. Definitely the ride of choice for those who do though! That being said, those are some of the nicest looking Vette's out there. Got anything done to it? -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28 M6

well, the engine is out of it, so we will see. i have a C5 brake convertion i need to put on it. it had a flowmaster catback and edelbrock heades on it, but all that will go with the new engine. --

How much do you want to spend to fix this?
Get an alpine deck w/mp3 playback and ditch the changer, get infinity speakers, and JL Audio subwoofer, you can't go wrong.
Aftermarket speakers are going to sounds a lot better and cleaner, but won't be as good for bass. You may need an adapter, but you can make them work with the monsoon deck.
Let me knwo if you want more detailed information and your budget.
Do you have kick panels in the front doors, or just regular speaker in the door? -- http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2210351

I agree with the comment on re-wiring everything. Its really not that hard of a task. probably the toughest being running wire through the grommets on the front two doors. with smalls hands, a clothes hanger and electrical tape you should be able to push it through in a few tries. the panels on the front doors can be scary to take off the first time, but after that its a breeze.
If you def dont wanna re-wire, at least do yourself a favor and bypass the factory amp. it does nothing but blow aftermarket speakers.
So here's to another vote for rewiring! -- Performance: Cold Air, K&N, SLP Lid, Smooth Bellows, Hooker Exhaust
