Top speed?

Posted By: 02Z28Camaro On: 01-02-2008 @ 16:07:59         Reply | Edit
My plans are to save up and put a 12 bolt in my car during this winter. I'm not sure which gears I want to use because I don't know what my top speed will be. If I stick with 3.73s what is an estimated top speed?

Probably still close to 160, they are limited at 163 by the computer not the RPMs and do it stock... or so I've heard

They're drag limited, not computer limited (if you had the Z rated tires)

But yeah, you're not gonna hit the top speed anyway, stick with 3.73's

EDIT: and it's 163 for T/A's, 160 for Camaro's

In my old LT1 A4, I buried my speedo with 3.73's It was buried for a good 10 or 20 seconds (til I ran out of road) and still pulling. Granted, I had a supercharger also. I'd agree with Pongo.

Figuring that you can be in overdrive with the converter locked @ 6000-6100rpm with 3.73's you'd be moving 180mph that's also given it has the power to do that. At WOT in drive that 6100rpm on 3.73's should get you about 114mph. I used a 25"-26" tall tire for all those, cause I'm guessing you're running 245/50/16 or 255/50/16 tires.
