Sway Bars

Posted By: rnrkid On: 01-04-2008 @ 11:55:23         Reply | Edit
Do you guys think it's better to go with a 35MM sway bar up front rather then the factory 32MM? 35 seems like over kill to me, but some guys swear by it. One of my buddies said leave it off all together if I'm going to the 1/4 mile, but without it my front bumper drags on hard corners in dailey driving(i'm lowered almost 2". I'm keeping the factory 19 in back. What do you guys run?

Handing/auto x etc etc = Front and back as big and you can go.

Drag racing = none up front, big in the back.

Thanks. I will probably not do any Auto X and will spend more time at the 1/4, but like I said, my front bumper drags around corners at speed. I have B&G springs and the progressive rate stays too soft for too long. I think for now I'll be putting the factory bars back on, and if I decide to auto x at all, I'll take your advice and bump them up in size and add some QA1's.
Thanks again!

If you do alot of street driving and already are having issues with the front end when it is removed, I'd say run the front one all the time. Yes not having it at the drag strip will help, but slightly and it's not worth the crappy ride while on the street the rest of the time.

As for size, if you don't do any autoX or road course, I'd say just stick with the stock one.

I run both stock sways on my daily driving 98' Formula. On my 94' Race Formula, I never run a front one, and have a BMR Xtreme in the back.

Thanks. I probably won't be running auto x with this car anyway. I'm throwing some new new paint on soon, and cones can really scuff the crap out of it. I havn't run the bars with the new springs yet, so I should see an improvement over stock.

I have 35mm solid and 21mm stock rear and love it but I do Auto-X and go to open track days. I also daily drive it and like it on the street just as much but you'll be fine with stockers if you are more into drag racing. You may want to put the biggest bar you can get in the back and just disconnect the front end links and zip tie the ends of the bar up at the track.

Has anyone done a comparison with a mild modded car of sway bar/no sway bar. It's probably not even worth me pulling the front on drag day. If it's only a tenth or so, I can deal with it.
