Synchronizers

Got the slave cylinder and throwout bearing in, but its still making the grinding noise. GM says either I'm low on transmission fluid or the guy put the wrong fluid in, or the synchronizers are bad. How much are synchronizers and about how much to put them in? -- 99 Black Z-28 "Stripper" M6, SS Ram Air Hood, SS Rims, Borla Cat-Back, J&M Strut Tower Brace, B&M Ripper Shifter, Whisper Lid, Pics @ http://191motorsports.myphotoalbum.com/

What are the odds of all the synchronizers going bad at once? I don't think it is very good but I don't know what else it could be. I've already put a lot of money into a car I've only had 2 months. If I can't find a quick solution that isn't going to cost me a ton of money then the car may go up for sale. -- 99 Black Z-28 "Stripper" M6, SS Ram Air Hood, SS Rims, Borla Cat-Back, J&M Strut Tower Brace, B&M Ripper Shifter, Whisper Lid, Pics @ http://191motorsports.myphotoalbum.com/

If one is broken, odds are all have wear, if it comes out might as well do it all. it will cost the same either way. -- 2002 Navy Blue Metallic Trans-Am, 6 Speed, Leather, T-tops. SLP Flow Pack, M/T Street Radials, Free Mods, otherwise stock. Moser 12-bolt and BMR Suspension

After trying some things out, I have found that if I left off the gas for about 2 seconds then shift it doesn't grind. But if I shift as soon as I let off the gas then it does grind. -- 99 Black Z-28 "Stripper" M6, SS Ram Air Hood, SS Rims, Borla Cat-Back, J&M Strut Tower Brace, B&M Ripper Shifter, Whisper Lid, Pics @ http://191motorsports.myphotoalbum.com/

Interesting. My car is also giving me tranny grief. If you remember, this is the "mint, mint, mint" WS6 that has been on the road a total of maybe a wk or so since I got it in late April of this year. It is an absolute biotch to get into reverse and sometimes it's a prick about going into 1st from a stop too. The other day I was pounding it out of frustration and anger and somehow ground the gears on a 3rd to 4th(!) shift!! I have driven manuals all my life, so no, it's not the operator. If I find out this car needs a tranny on top of everything else, I may just burn it to the ground..

It takes only seconds to frag a tranny, if you try hard enough, the car may look mint. But it may not be.
I have missed shifts twice and I pray never to do it again. If I am shifing hard at WOT and feel that its not going in, ill blow the run, not force it. -- 2002 Navy Blue Metallic Trans-Am, 6 Speed, Leather, T-tops. I'm not replacing it unless I have to. Its fine to drive around everyday, no problems at all, just if I want to run through the gears real quick does it give me problems. I may just have it rebuilt by one of the GM mechanics next week. I just don't know. It is getting closer and closer to the point where I'm just gonna say screw it and trade it in. -- 99 Black Z-28 "Stripper" M6, SS Ram Air Hood, Borla Cat-Back, J&M Strut Tower Brace, B&M Ripper Shifter, Whisper Lid, Tint (50% front, 35% rear) Pics @ http://191motorsports.myphotoalbum.com/
