I'm looking to get my windows tinted but have no clue about cost or anything. I know my state laws on tint but was wondering if you guys had any tips on not getting screwed. Should I supply my own tint or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -- 1999 Z-28 Camaro M6, SS Ram Air Hood, SS Rims, Borla Cat-Back, J&M Strut Tower Brace, K&N Filter, Hurst Billit/Plus Shifter

I know in PA anything darker than a dirty window is illegal. There really is no way around it, if the cops want to bust you, they can. I usually try to roll down my windows when I get near a cop though, just to be safe.

I'm not looking to go real dark, i believe in virginia its 50% on the side but you can go as dark as you want on the back but you can't have anything on front, my main concern is price and quality, any ideas on what it should cost around for both sides and the back? -- 1999 Z-28 Camaro M6, SS Ram Air Hood, SS Rims, Borla Cat-Back, J&M Strut Tower Brace, K&N Filter, Hurst Billit/Plus Shifter

There is a really good, audio/ricer performance/tint shop in PA and it cost $175 for the front two windows and the rear on my old '95 t/a. That was tint and labor.

The law for virginia is 50% on side windows ie.. drivers door and passengers door and the rear window can be at 35%.
The cost around Virginia is anywhere between $180.00 and $215.00 is the prices I have been quoted.
I believe I am going to get my tinted 35% all the way around. 50% is just a little to lite. --

It was outside of Keyser, WV. I forget the name of the shop though. --

I was wrong about the price of the tint. I stopped back in yesterday, and they said $175. The price I said was for anohter car. Sorry. --

Oh it's ok, that part of WV is a little to far out of my way to get my tint done. I think I'm going to a place called Homers Custom Paint & Body in Wytheville, Va. They race at the track I work at and they are good friends with my fiancees family so I think they will probably give me the best price. -- 99 Z-28 "Stripper" M6, SS Ram Air Hood, SS Rims, Borla Cat-Back, J&M Strut Tower Brace, Hurst Billit/Plus Shifter

Dude, it's called Wal-Mart. I just went there, bought the 5% Limo tint and did it with my gangsta friend. It looks perfect. Took 3 rolls, and was $30. Now, I do have a convertible, so I didn't have to deal with the massive hatch. But you could very easily do your own sides. All you need is a credit card or drivers license to push the tint down, and a water spray bottle. Took about an hour for the sides and 30 minutes for the rear. Just make sure you trim it well, so it doesn't get caught going up or down. I'm in Pennsylvania, and 5% is way past the point of sanity. However, my windows and top are almost always down anyhow... The best part is though, if a cop does tell me to take it out, I know for $30 and an hour of my time, I can put it right back on! [ Edited on 06/19/2007 @ 00:54:07 ]

I've done my own tint before and just didn't like the way it turned out. And I know there is no way I can do the back hatch. I knew there were a few members from my area and wanted to see what they got priced to do it as well as seeing what people from other parts of the country got theirs for. -- 99 Z-28 "Stripper" M6, SS Ram Air Hood, SS Rims, Borla Cat-Back, J&M Strut Tower Brace, Hurst Billit/Plus Shifter
