Spec 3+ is in

I put a Sped 3 clutch in my car about 10K miles ago and I noticed about 3 weeks ago that it was slipping badly if I gave it much gas in 5th or 6th gear, but seemed ok in 1st through 4th. I kept driving it and it got worse until 1st and 2nd were the only gears it wouldn't slip in. I think 10K miles is kind of low but there's not much I can do about it. The guy at Thunder Racing said that going to 4.10's would probably give me more life from the clutch (I have 3.73's now), but I don't want to put more $$ into my 10-bolt and don't want to spend the money for a 12-bolt at this time.
I ended up buying the Spec 3+ this time around and I installed it last night. The Spec 3+ has a regular style friction disc, not a puck style like the Spec 3. Driving it last night, I'm definitely happy with my decision. It engaged much more smoothly then my Spec 3 and feels almost stock except for the pedal pressure. Also, there's a pic of a guy on LS1tech lifting his front wheels (18 inch Vette wheels all around) using that clutch, so that gives me some reassurance that it'll work great at the track.
Now I just have to go through the 400 mile break in and then I can beat the crap out of it! I hope the snow holds off. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

What is this...the year of the clutch???
I'm hoping my ailing clutch will hang on till the end of the holidays.

Damn, I'll have to check that out. Pretty tough to pull fronts on 18s.
Congrats on the fix. --

To be totally honest, it worked awesome. It just wore out too soon. I am starting to consider installing some 4.10's. I thought about an LS7 clutch, and it would probably be perfect for my car right now, but I'm considering some nitrous over the winter and I'm not sure if it would hold then.

That's the car I was talking about cheddar. I can't be 100%, but those look like 18's to me. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

There is a fine line between slippin it like a woman and manning up to buy a 12 bolt. -- 2002 Navy Blue Metallic Trans-Am- Stock as a Rock!

Yeah, I've been trying that, but I can't with my cam setup. If I don't get enough revves then it nearly stalls the car and bucks like crazy, and whenever I'm stuck in traffic I have to slip it or I'll end up smashing the car in front of me. I really need those 4.10's. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28
