Took the car to the track for the first time yesterday, kina warm day. best run 13.3 at 105mph, with street tires, next pass just raped the tires ran a 14.5 at 104 put some slicks on, and the best was a 13.4 at 104. I know my launches are not the best, worried about stock rear and clutch. I would have thought with my mods, I should have a better mph (and time high 12s)I have thought hard about nitrous, cam heads ect... I have suspension upgades sitting here to be put on when i get the time. I dont know if i want to put cam and heads on this motor (want to build a 402 or 427 in the future) and then need something different when i build motor. any imput would be helpful. Is this a good time for ls1, I have read cars with free mods running the same time. I have ls6 intake, computer tuned, air lid, long tubes, magnaflow cat back, racetronix 255l with hotwire kit. -- 98 t/a tpis long tube headers, tpis edit, ls6 intake magnaflow cat back, kyb adjustable front struts, racetronix 255l in tank pump with hotwire kit.

The time you are running is what my buddys car ran completely stock. After his mods. He ran a 12.8 with headers and exhaust airlid and a dyno tune. with mickey thompson slicks. Is your car an automatic.

What was your '60? That will tell alot about the run. You may just need practice. You can have all the car you can handle, but without driving practice it won't go anywhere. Example: My brother in law used to have a '00 GT that couldn't get out of the low 15's for the life of him. He just sucked at driving. -- Dave

The car is a manual transmission, and yes i know i need practice on launcing with it. I only had the six speed in my 87 for one time at the track before I lost it to a house fire. I have done a lot of drag racing, mostly with an auto. My best 60ft time 2.111 and the worst was 2.216 my reaction times got better as the day went on. -- 98 t/a tpis long tube headers, tpis edit, ls6 intake magnaflow cat back, kyb adjustable front struts, racetronix 255l in tank pump with hotwire kit.

Honestly, it sounds to me like your trap speed is low, which mean that: your car is down on power, you can't drive well yet, or you were racing on an extremely hot day and/or high altitude. I'd say get it dynoed and rule that out. -- Red 2002 Camaro Z28

the 60 foot def needs some work but that really doesnt effect mph all that much. I am def with RSM the mph is low for the mods.
You should be 109-110 with, LT's, LS6 intake, lid, cat back.
A dyno tune wouldnt hurt, but at least make sure its running tip top. -- '94 Black Z28, 383 LT1 Breaking 11's SOON!

I too thought my trap speed should be higher, my 60' is crappy. Would my launch help my trap?? I was only launching from idle to 2k. (just getting the feeling for how it was going to respond without breaking stuff. My next trip i plan on launching at 4k i just ordered some subframes, adjustable tourque arm, and some juice. I thought i would give it a try. Car has 103k on it, might be getting tired. (pulls like crazy on the street) I have seen several high mileage cars that lacked power sprayed them, and they seem to run much better without juice after. I have also decided to save up for a 12 bolt. Then instead of putting cam and heads on this ls1 I am pondering on building or buying a 408. Anybody heard good things about the short blocks you can buy assembled. I dont think I can build one that cheap myself. Also any info on the patriot heads and cams, very reasonably priced, and the flow #s look good. Thanks for the input -- 98 t/a tpis long tube headers, tpis edit, ls6 intake magnaflow cat back, kyb adjustable front struts, racetronix 255l in tank pump with hotwire kit.
