Okay, so i just ordered an electronic cutout for my SS. I don't know how to weld so I was planning on taking in to a muffler shop to have the actual cutout part installed. How difficult would it be for me to put on the electric valve plate and wire it up. I'm kinda new at this but i have done everything on my car so far. How long would it take me to do it or should I even try at all? I was just thinkin i could save a few bucks by doing that myself -- 6-speed Pewter SS. Mostly stock but not for long. SLP lid. SSRA. Aftermarket Cat-back(I don't know what kind though). Hopefully some new headers coming soon!!

The plate bolts on. all you would have to do is run the wire into the car, and give it some 12volt power to the switch. There are lots of place you can tap into for 12volt power. Edit, you need accessory power, which can be had from the fuse panel on drivers side. There are 3 sockets for aftermarket use, iirc 20AMP circuits. There is an ignition, a retained accessory power, and a battery. You can tap into the ignition one, either via the wire it self, or the fuse panel accepts blade crimped connectors. You can buy wire taps at walmart for $2 for a pack of 3 that clip onto the wire, and come with a female disconnect, which you would crimp onto the wire coming from the switch.

I wouldnt use the cig lighter, unless its different in your car the cig lighter is always getting power and the cutout motor would always be getitng power too. I used the little light bulb wires in the ash tray area, i just turn on the lights and change it. --

I was under the impression its an always open switch SPST. Thanks for clarification. In that case you can use pink wire in the ignition harness, and cigarette lighter ground -- http://www.lonestarthunder.com
