I was wondering if anyone has used any of the computer programmers on their ls1 f-bod. I would like to start out with some mods- and I am considering an slp flowpac and a computer programmer for the ignition. Suposedly they boost hp pretty well. Would anyone recommend a flowpac? And for the programmers- do they work? Which one should I buy- the SLP performance Diablo Sport II $460, Superchips Max Micotuner $390, Hypertech Programmer III $328, Ganatelli "Big G" Flash tool $365, or any others? Any expertise and experience from those who did it or know what is best is well apreciated. -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! Stock times coming, mods may come too.

I did some research and I would be better off with a lid and k&n filter, the flowpac is better for non ram air cars because I already have the cold air i just need a non restrictive lid and filter. Would hollowing the cats be a good idea or not because of the O2 sensors and rich/leanness? So should I hollow the cats, and should I get a programmer? (or would i be better off with a slp lm II catback in its place) -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! Stock times coming, mods may come too.

there is zero good reason to get a programer, especialy on a modded car unless your goal is to piss money away. Get yourself a real tune. -- Owner of HBHRacing.com Xtreme performance products

if you are comfortable enough with tuning your computer and possbly messing it up, then get a real tuning setup such as HP tuners for a laptop. But you will see more of a gain from bolt on's to begin with and then get a real dyno tune from a reputable shop, they will know much more about it than most people you will talk to, and will be able to optimize your gain. the handheld tuners are junk. -- "No way dude...i saw an LS1 fight godzilla and the LS1 beat godzilla and it looked in the air and was like what do you think of that god? And god was like bring it bitch, so they fought and the LS1 beat god and now the LS1 is god because its the greatest thing ever"
what I once thought was, is now no more.

As far as hollowing out your cats, that will not hurt anything, the rear o2's are only for emissions controls but you will get an SES light and if it is always on you will not know if something else went wrong. -- "No way dude...i saw an LS1 fight godzilla and the LS1 beat godzilla and it looked in the air and was like what do you think of that god? OK, yeah I have heard some bad things from some other people too, and I did realize that it is pissing the money away because I will want to get a real tune after I do some mods. I don't think a cat back from slp or anyone is good either, because I will want and need true duals with headers when I want to do heads and cam down the road. I think my best bet is to do the lid, air filter, gears, and drag radials for starters. Should I hollow out the cats?(if I'm not worried about emissions) And what drag radials, nittos or ET's? 3.73 or 4.10? -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! I wouldn't waste your time hollowing out the cats. Only because you said your going to headers so you might as well just wait until then. Better to take off the y pipe once then twice. Especially if the y pipe bolts snap off like they did with me when I put my headers on. -- Dan
