well i don't know how to explain this but i'll try my best. when i'm driving at around 50 mph i step on it hard and my car wants to take off when my rpms go up to 3 1/2, but the rpms then go down to 2 and then back to 3 1/2 and finally it takes off and the rpms finally climb. what could be causing this surging. i just put in a tranny cooler and eliminated the egr valve. i have a 2000 ls1 engine with headers. the traction control is off when i try this. other than this, the car drives smooth and everyshift is very smooth, i don't think its the transmission because it shifts perfectly. any help will be greatly appreciated.

do a tuneup, including a fuel filter I worked on a taho that had a similar problem it turned out to be a clogged fuel filter. -- "No way dude...i saw an LS1 fight godzilla and the LS1 beat godzilla and it looked in the air and was like what do you think of that god? And god was like bring it bitch, so they fought and the LS1 beat god and now the LS1 is god because its the greatest thing ever"
what I once thought was, is now no more.

i had changed the fuel filter about a month ago, i know this is fuel related because it feels like it doesn't want to get fuel. what else could it be?

We had similar problems in my cousins z28 when he removed the EGR valve. And when the egr went bad in my beater car it did the same thing. It would run good sometimes then a lot of times when it was put to the throttel it would rev then drop back down and just sort of go nowhere. Then each car would pull. It was really weird but the problem was the EGR in each. We took his car and tuned it and they fixed the problem. Not sure if your car is the same because I havent driven it obviously, but seeing as you just emliminated the egr that could be it. -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! Get a fuel pressure gauge and check ur fuel pressure. If your pressure is good start looking elsewhere. -- "No way dude...i saw an LS1 fight godzilla and the LS1 beat godzilla and it looked in the air and was like what do you think of that god? most auto parts places will sell it, and there is a little schrader valve, i think thats what its called, on the fuel rail. you just hook it up there and turn the car on. -- "No way dude...i saw an LS1 fight godzilla and the LS1 beat godzilla and it looked in the air and was like what do you think of that god? hey 2fast what did they tune when they fixed your car. i ask the guy who tuned it, but he said it was fine, what exactly did they move so i could get tuned correctly. my car runs excellent when just driving regular, but when i punch it to full throttle it does this surging thing. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Definitely look into that egr valve, maybe you should hook it back up and just see what happens- and/or find a good technician. If you dont eliminate them correctly it can could trick the computer into thinking it needs more or less air causeing it to bog/ surge under throttel. If you find a good tech- tell him you checked the fuel pressure and it doesnt seem to be the problem, and see if egr is involved. Not sure but your description and the fact that it happened after the removal leads me to believe it is a possibility. -- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 Beautiful Pearl White. 4k miles! thats what i've been thinking that it is. my fuel pressure seems fine, and the car runs perfect all the time, and i know it has to do with fuel or air. i just have to take it back and see what they find out, thanks.
